1940s pinup style has become the hallmark of rockabilly chicks, flaunting the sweet femininity as a juxtoposition to bodies covered with tattoos and piercings. But, once upon a time, this homage to Bettie Page was simply about being feminine, flaunting your curves and being secure in your sexy self. From that perspective, pinup style is 100% for me. Which is ironic, because my current style could only be described as bland, uninspired and as androgynous as one can get. But still, I covet the leopard print pumps and finger rolled hair, the red, red lips and seamed stockings that say "I am woman, hear me roar." I think I'll try to incorporate a little more pin up into 2011, just to see how it feels. You never know, by the end of the year, I might be convinced to do a pinup shoot just for the hell of it!
